It’s happening: WHO RIDES THE WORLD is running!
This month Riser is dedicating their support to women motorcyclists around the globe! With our initiative WHO RIDES THE WORLD we will be highlighting female riders, female clubs, female festivals and other great initiatives by women who all share passion for motorcycles. But we also want to involve YOU: we want the whole community to participate and you will have the chance to WIN! (read here for more info). Make sure to stay tuned over the course of the next weeks.
Today we have the pleasure of introducing Michelle Collyer!
Michelle Collyer has made her debut in 1990 as the first Chilean female motocross rider. At that time motorsport was exclusively male. She started in the 85cc category and then in 125cc.
After 13 years of retracting from the sport she returned to the tracks in 2013 and won. She is part of a group called Mujeres Moteras de Chile. In 2018 they founded Women Riders Chile.
Mujeres Moteras de Chile will be taking part in the Women Riders World Relay 2019 which will arrive in Chile in November this year. They will be riding through Chile and passing on the baton to go on to Argentina.
How and when did you start biking (together)?
We have been riding for a many years as individuals and got together first as a group called Mujeres Moteras de Chile a few years ago, then, last year we brought WomenRidersChile to life, wich has the goal to unite all women who ride in our country.
What is your life’s motto (or the motto of your bike pack)?
Today we just say this is a “Girl’s revolution”.
Why is driving in a group better?
We believe everyone has an interesting world themself. Besides, women who ride always have super interesting and strong and cool personalities so every time we come together the days together turn out really amazing.
What is your favorite route for a group ride? And why?
We haven’t decided on one yet as we have just been riding together for a short period of time.
What would you like all women to know?
Chile has a really wonderful scenery to travel by motorcycle plus really friendly people, so we encourage women all around the world to come along. For sure, you wont regret it!
