When using an App, usually you’d mainly think about your needs: You want the App to work properly and give you fast results.
The surface normally doesn’t show you how much effort it takes to build an App. We’ve been working on RISER now for some years and can assure you one thing: It’s an ENDLESS amount of work. But it’s a lot of fun too, especially when you work with a team of likeminded people. We first launched RISER in summer 2016 and were excited about the fact that users seemed to like the App from the very beginning, and that we were getting a lot of feedback – positive and negative. Of course the positive feedback was like sugar for us, we ate it all because after all the work, sitting in front of our computers, getting something positive back was just grand. Still, the negative feedback and the wishes users were expressing to improve the App was as important as the positive feedback because it helped us to keep up the good work and to search continuously for new ways to fulfill all your wishes. Because you, the users, are the people we made this app for (okay, we like motorcycling as well, so it’s a bit for us too).
So why now the v2?
Well, when working on an App, a lot of your thoughts are tied to the next version and what to improve to give the user a better experience and make the App even more exciting. Much of your time goes into making plans, exchanging ideas for the future and asking yourself: How the hell shall we find the time and resources to make all this happen?
So imagine us sitting there: We’re a small team, still having a long list of features that we want to implement in the future. And then there comes New Year’s Eve and we decide to massively remodel our code base, even if it will cost us a lot of time.
Why?
Because you’ll like the result. The App is a lot faster and more stable, the performance has improved and – most importantly – in the future we’ll be able to set up new features much faster. So basically, we’ve built a new foundation on which our house is standing. And now we can move onward and go on building additional parts on our house to enlarge and enrich it!
Cool for us. But what’s in it for you?
While working on this massive code base changes, we’ve also optimized a lot of details and nuances in the app, improved interaction and made parts of it less complex and smoother in terms of design and functionality and did some work on the look & feel as well as the overall experience to make it simpler, easier and more intuitive to use. In v2 you’ll find, for instance:
Smart friend suggestions so you can ride with the right people and plan your trips together – because the right travel companions are one of the most important things for a biker; You’ll find a new design in the “Discover” area where you can find sections in your area that have already been driven and saved by others because they’re just awesome; Smooth, simple design is also part of your new roadbook – the sections and trips are now much easier to oversee and you’ll find it much easier to use than before.
And: This was just the beginning!
This ain’t the end for looooooong. Next thing on our list is what our developers call “the magic”… Features that are smart and will make your driving experience and everything around it better – so stay tuned, RISER is working all day long on more of these exciting features. You know, at the end of the day, we are customers of RISER ourselves – and we want to see new stuff and new ideas from our feature-request-list in the App!
Let us know what you think of RISER, rate the App on the App Store, send us messages on FB or via email with your input – we’re bikers like you and most of the time we really understand your point when you send us feedback. We take your wishes seriously and always try to find solutions that fit! Drive your personal adventure with RISER and use the knowledge of the community in the App to find more of the cool roads for your next ride!
See you soon,
Dominik & Peter (our CEO’s) and the RISER team
